The Standing Committee on Territorial Administration and Environment of the National Assembly of Armenia convened an extraordinary sitting on September 9.
The sitting was chaired by Vahe Ghalumyan, an MP from the Civil Contract faction and a member of the committee.
The National Assembly had not previously elected a Chair of the Standing Committee on Territorial Administration and Environment. During the sitting, the Strong Armenia faction expressed the position that the sitting should be convened within five working days after the election of the committee chair, which is due to take place during the National Assembly’s next session.
However, Vahe Ghalumyan, who chaired the sitting, said that under the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly, the committee sitting must be held regardless of whether or not a committee chair has been elected.
During the sitting, Vahe Ghalumyan was elected Deputy Chair of the Standing Committee on Territorial Administration and Environment of the National Assembly of Armenia.
It should be noted that Strong Armenia faction candidate Irina Yolyan had not been elected Chair of the Standing Committee on Territorial Administration and Environment.
