Armenian Environment Minister participates in UN Convention on Biological Diversity’s Kunming Dialogue

The Kunming Dialogue of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity has officially opened in Kunming, People’s Republic of China.

According to the Armenian Ministry of Environment, Armenian Minister of Environment Hambardzum Matevosyan, in his capacity as COP17 President, participated in the opening plenary session of the dialogue and delivered remarks, presenting the vision and approaches of Armenia’s presidency regarding the first global review of collective progress in the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.

The Ministry noted that the event is dedicated to preparations for the first global review of collective progress in implementing the Global Biodiversity Framework.

The dialogue has brought together representatives of Parties to the Convention, Indigenous Peoples and local communities, youth, academia, the private and financial sectors, and other stakeholders.

Discussions will focus on the progress made and existing gaps in implementing the Global Biodiversity Framework, additional steps towards achieving its goals and targets by 2030, as well as opportunities for international cooperation.

The outcomes of the dialogue will be presented at COP17 in Yerevan and will serve as an important basis for further discussions and decisions on the first global review of the implementation of the Global Biodiversity Framework.
