Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Ararat Mirzoyan toured the “Bovo GAS” biogas production plant in Riga as part of his visit to Latvia.
According to a ministry readout, Minister Mirzoyan toured the plant’s production facilities and familiarized himself with the production process and technologies.
Mkhitar Mkhitaryan, the company’s founder and owner, as well as the Honorary Consul of Armenia in Latvia, presented the company’s activities and overall production chain to Minister Mirzoyan, including its contribution to the development of the energy system in the Baltic countries, as well as completed and ongoing projects.
Mkhitaryan emphasized that “Bovo GAS” is a unique plant in Latvia, launched in March 2024, for producing high-quality biomethane. It purifies biogas and directly injects the resulting biomethane into Latvia’s natural gas network.
It was noted that the project is one of the best examples of converting agricultural waste into renewable energy, with the production chain also including the production of high-quality fertilizer from eggs alongside biogas.
During the tour, issues related to the exchange of experience and the prospects for biogas production in Armenia were discussed.
In this context, Minister Mirzoyan emphasized that strengthening energy resilience and diversifying energy sources are among the priorities of the Government of Armenia.
