Armenia approves September compensation for greenhouse product exporters

The Armenian government approved state compensation to businesses exporting certain greenhouse products from the country in the first month of autumn as part of its ongoing support programs.

The proposal was adopted unanimously at the Cabinet meeting.

Under the decision, businesses will receive compensation of AMD 770 for each kilogram of strawberries exported, AMD 500 for Palermo-type peppers, AMD 400 each for cherry tomatoes and peppers, AMD 275 for tomatoes, AMD 200 for eggplants, and AMD 50 for each flower exported.

Addressing the program, Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan said that certain products that no longer have export potential in September had been removed from it, particularly blackberries, cherries, raspberries and others.

At the same time, the deadline for compensation provided for peaches and figs procured for processing has been extended by one month. All previously adopted support programs for vegetables have been maintained.

According to Papoyan, these support programs have fully served their purpose. In particular, in January-July of this year, Armenia exported $849 million worth of agricultural products, compared with $865 million worth of products during the same period last year. The shortfall compared with the previous year’s figure is only 1.85%. In his assessment, given these trends, the figure could even be exceeded in August.

It was announced that compared with the previous year, exports of bottled brandy increased by 19%, brandy spirit by 12%, canned fruit and vegetables by 18%, and dried fruits and vegetables by 151%.

At the same time, wine exports decreased by 8%, fruit and vegetable juices by 1%, and flower exports by 27%. Papoyan noted that as of August 1, 2025, 39 million flowers had been exported, compared with 30.1 million as of the same date this year.

“The issue of export volumes has been resolved: we are diversifying and exporting,” he noted.

The minister also detailed that this year Armenia exported flowers to 28 countries, fruit to 24 countries, and vegetables to 16 countries. It was noted that this is an unprecedentedly broad geographical reach for exports.

Papoyan also reported that around 6,000 tons of peaches had already been procured this year, compared with 3,860 tons throughout the previous year.
