A delegation led by Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan has arrived in the Czech Republic on an official visit. The delegation includes Armenian Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Davit Khudatyan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Vahan Kostanyan, Armenian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Czech Republic Ashot Hovakimyan, and other officials.
As the Armenpress correspondent reports from Prague, the delegation led by President Khachaturyan was welcomed at Václav Havel International Airport by Czech Deputy Foreign Minister Jiří Brodský and Czech Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia Petr Pirunčík.
On September 3, the Armenian President is scheduled to meet Czech President Petr Pavel at the presidential residence at Prague Castle. The one-on-one meeting will be followed by discussions in an expanded format with the participation of the delegations. The presidents of the two countries will hold a press conference.
Vahagn Khachaturyan will also meet President of the Czech Senate Miloš Vystrčil. The meeting will also be attended by the Senate’s vice-presidents and the chairs of the committees on foreign affairs, defence and security, as well as EU affairs.
The discussions will then continue at the Chamber of Deputies, where the Armenian President will be welcomed by Tomio Okamura.
The official visit will also include a meeting with representatives of the Armenian community in the Czech Republic, as well as an event entitled “Solidarity: Commemorating Czech Support for Armenia Following the 1988 Earthquake”.
As part of the event planned at the Rothmayer Hall of Prague Castle, a meeting will be held with firefighters who carried out a rescue mission in Armenia following the devastating earthquake of December 7, 1988, and with organisers of a humanitarian fundraising campaign.
