Armenia’s Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan chaired the inaugural meeting of the working group established to develop, approve and implement a development program for Kirants settlement in Ijevan community of Tavush Province.
The ministry said in a press release that the working group includes representatives from the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, the Tourism Committee of the Ministry of Economy, Public Television of Armenia and other interested bodies.
Minister Zhanna Andreasyan highlighted the work being carried out to develop Kirants, emphasizing effective interagency cooperation and joint efforts. She noted that Kirants has historical and cultural, environmental, and tourism potential, the identification and promotion of which is included in the Government’s new program. Kirants should become a center for sustainable tourism, cultural heritage preservation, peace, innovation and community development, creating new long-term development opportunities for the border settlement.
During the meeting, issues related to the scope of the working group’s activities, development opportunities, existing problems and priorities in Kirants, further steps in developing the program, and upcoming tasks were discussed.
In this context, the development of the concept for the settlement’s development program was also addressed.
The working group discussed opportunities to hold cultural and sporting events in Kirants, as well as various formats for presenting the settlement’s potential during the international professional multi-stage cycling race “Tour of Armenia,” which will take place on September 10-13.
A four-day cycling race, the Tour d’Arménie (Tour of Armenia), will be held in Armenia from September 10-13, with the routes covering a total of around 500 kilometers.
