Armenian Foreign Minister highlights importance of promoting international trade ties in line with ministry’s new functions

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan delivered opening remarks at the start of a workshop held in Gyumri with the participation of the leadership of the Armenian Foreign Ministry and heads of Armenia’s diplomatic missions abroad.

According to the Foreign Ministry, Minister Mirzoyan emphasised that this year’s workshop is particularly significant due to two circumstances.

The first is that it is being held following Armenia’s parliamentary elections and amid new realities. In this context, Ararat Mirzoyan emphasised the continuity of Armenia’s foreign policy in consistently fostering a peaceful and cooperative environment around Armenia, further institutionalising peace and developing partnerships.

Turning to the second distinctive feature, the Armenian Foreign Minister stressed the importance of promoting international trade ties within the partnership agenda, which is in line with the ministry’s new functions.

The ministry reported that Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan and National Assembly Speaker Ruben Rubinyan delivered messages at the meeting.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan delivered remarks during the workshop. The Prime Minister addressed the foreign policy priorities reflected in the Armenian Government’s programme and the role of the Foreign Ministry and Armenia’s diplomatic missions abroad in implementing them.

Prime Minister Pashinyan noted that the decision to change the ministry’s name is based on a clear concept aimed at achieving concrete results and increasing prosperity by strengthening the economic component of foreign policy.

The remarks were followed by a discussion, during which Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan answered questions of interest to the ambassadors.

Members of the Armenian National Assembly and Government were also present at the opening of the workshop.
