UN Secretary-General expects United States to pay part of its outstanding debt to organisation

UN Secretary-General António Guterres expects the United States to pay part of its outstanding debt to the UN budget in the near future.

“It will happen very soon,” Guterres told reporters at UN headquarters, according to TASS.

It was previously reported that the US State Department had informed Congress of its intention to pay $725 million to the United Nations towards its outstanding budget contributions. The US government’s total outstanding contributions to the UN regular budget and peacekeeping operations exceed $4 billion.
