US President Donald Trump has said that Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director John Ratcliffe’s visit to Russia could yield results, RIA Novosti reported.
“He was there on what you might call a routine visit. Something could come of it,” Trump said.
The US President also noted that Washington was actively working to bring an end to the conflict in Ukraine.
Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stressed that Russian President Vladimir Putin had not met with the CIA Director. According to Peskov, Ratcliffe’s visit to Moscow was related to established contacts between the intelligence services.
The Kremlin spokesman added that Putin had been briefed on those contacts and said it was too early to judge how the US official’s visit to the capital would affect efforts to bring Russian-US relations out of their deep crisis.
