Armenia’s artistic gymnastics team had a successful run at the European Championships, winning gold, silver and bronze medals, national team head coach Hakob Serobyan said while summarizing the team’s performance.
The head coach of Armenia’s artistic gymnastics team, Hakob Serobyan, and team coach Hayk Nazaryan summarized the results of the European Championships at a press conference on Wednesday.
“Overall, this European Championship went well for us. It was predictable for us. In some cases, there were situations we did not expect, and there were also situations that were expected. We achieved a very good result for our country — we took first, second and third places. Everyone did their best; only Artur Davtyan’s second vault in the final was unexpected for us. We had prepared as well as possible, and Artur Davtyan was one of those who had prepared the best,” Serobyan said.
According to the coach, this European Championship presented a particular challenge because it was the first time it was held in August.
Speaking about newly crowned European champion Artur Avetisyan, Serobyan noted that compared with previous years, Avetisyan performed his routine well, while his competitors also made many mistakes.
Regarding European silver medalist Hamlet Manukyan and bronze medalist Mamikon Khachatryan, the coach emphasized that the young athletes performed their routines perfectly.
According to national team coach Hayk Nazaryan, these results at the European Championships could serve as inspiration for upcoming competitions.
“We are very happy about Artur Avetisyan’s gold medal, and we are also happy about Hamlet’s and Mamikon’s medals,” he said.
Nazaryan also spoke about Artur Davtyan’s unsuccessful performance in the final, explaining that the athlete experienced back pain after his first vault.
