Iran and Oman agree to establish temporary route through Strait of Hormuz

Iran and Oman have agreed to establish a temporary corridor for the passage of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz, as well as to clear mines from the strait’s waters, IRNA reported on August 25, citing a joint statement by the two countries.

“During consultations between the two countries on restoring safe navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, the Islamic Republic of Iran and Oman agreed to establish a temporary joint maritime corridor and carry out a joint mine-clearance project in the strait,” the document said.
