US Central Intelligence Agency Director John Ratcliffe has arrived in Moscow on an unannounced visit, CBS News journalist Jennifer Jacobs reported.
According to Jacobs, the US intelligence chief arrived aboard a US military Boeing C-17 aircraft. It was not specified whom Ratcliffe was expected to hold talks with.
According to Axios, Ratcliffe travelled to Moscow for talks with Russian officials. A source cited by the publication said that ahead of Ratcliffe’s trip, the United States informed Ukraine that a high-level delegation was heading to Moscow and asked Kyiv to halt strikes.
Ratcliffe’s visit has not been officially announced.
According to one version, the senior US official’s visit may be linked to the release of US citizen Charles Zimmerman, who was convicted in Russia.
