Pashinyan calls for end to weaponization of Armenian Genocide

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that the process of weaponizing the Armenian Genocide must come to an end, because the Armenian people will once again fall victim to the firing of that weapon.

“April 24 is our April 24,” Pashinyan said in parliament, referring to Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day.

“The Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex is our Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex. We must reflect at Tsitsernakaberd and must decide that the Republic of Armenia should not be a graveyard for the victims of massacres, deportations and genocide throughout history and their descendants, but rather a homeland-state where people live freely, prosperously and safely,” Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said while presenting the government’s 2026-2031 program.

He said that Armenians should no longer dream of another homeland, because the Republic of Armenia is “the homeland of our dreams, and we are happy to have that homeland.”

“Our task should be to develop this homeland-state and pass it on from generation to generation. For this, yes, we must first ensure the existence and security of the state. This is why we first need to study the lessons of our old and recent history, what happens when we place our hopes for security in others,” Pashinyan said.
