Iran and US holding talks behind closed doors: Pakistani ambassador to Russia

1 minute read

Iran and the United States are continuing to hold talks behind closed doors, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Moscow Faisal Niaz Tirmizi told TASS.

Asked whether there had been progress in contacts between Tehran and Washington, the diplomat responded positively, saying that consultations were “under way right now”.

The ambassador declined to comment on whether the talks were taking place in Islamabad.

“This is not public information, but we are working on it,” he said.

Earlier, Pakistan Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi said the country was making efforts to bring the United States and Iran back to the negotiating table in order to ease tensions in the Middle East.

Pakistan has played an important mediating role in efforts to resolve the US-Iran conflict that began in late February.
