Nearly 10,000 people have been affected by prolonged torrential rains in Shaanxi Province in northwestern China, with one person confirmed dead.
According to China Central Television, prolonged heavy rainfall across several parts of the province between July 30 and August 5 caused widespread damage. Zhashui County was the worst-affected area.
“One death has been confirmed so far, while rescue teams are actively searching for two other people. According to preliminary data as of August 6, the disaster affected 3,718 households and 9,901 people. A total of 16.2 kilometres of river embankments were damaged, and 29 road collapses were recorded,” the statement said.
