Iran launched multiple ballistic missiles toward a U.S. military base in Jordan in what U.S. Central Command described as an "attempted surprise attack."
Iran’s Mehr news agency cited the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as saying it targeted a U.S. airbase and central command center in Jordan with several ballistic missiles, warning that resistance will continue as long as American threats and "illegal and mischievous actions" against Iranian interests persist.
The IRGC said the attack was in response to "aggressive actions by the child-killing American army."
"Until threats against the Islamic Republic of Iran continue and the illegal and mischievous actions of American forces against our interests are ongoing, resistance will continue as well," the IRGC said. "Threats by American officials and illegal interventions against our interests must stop."
All of the missiles were intercepted, CENTCOM said in a statement.
“Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces launched multiple ballistic missiles from Iran in an attempted surprise attack on U.S. forces based in the Middle East. All Iranian missiles were successfully intercepted. U.S. forces remain vigilant and at a high state of readiness,” CENTCOM said.
CENTCOM also said that U.S. and Saudi fighter aircraft struck multiple logistics and weapons sites in eastern Iraq in response to what it described as more than 30 IRGC-directed drone attacks over the previous 72 hours.
