Sofia City Council names street “Armenia Alley”

A street in Sofia’s Peyo Yavorov neighborhood has been officially named “Armenia Alley” following a unanimous decision by the Sofia City Council, marking a gesture of friendship between Armenia and Bulgaria.

The decision was adopted with 33 votes in favor, 0 against, and 0 abstentions.

“This unanimous support is an important expression of friendship and mutual respect, reflecting the centuries-old ties and strong relationship between the Armenian and Bulgarian peoples,” the Armenian Embassy in Bulgaria said in a press release.

“We extend our sincere gratitude to the Sofia City Council and the Sredets district administration for their dedication and consistent efforts, which made this initiative a reality, turning it into a lasting symbol of Armenian-Bulgarian historical friendship, as well as an expression of appreciation for the Armenian presence in Bulgaria and the contributions of the Armenian community,” the embassy said, adding that the official inauguration date will be announced later.
