Food safety authority denies reports of return of Armenian export shipment from Ukraine

Armenia’s Food Safety Inspectorate has denied reports circulated by a local news website claiming that Ukraine had returned a truck carrying Armenian peppers after an insect, allegedly thrips, was found in the cargo.

In a statement, the agency said no phytosanitary-controlled shipment exported from Armenia to Ukraine had been returned.

“The Food Safety Inspectorate has not received any letter or notification from the competent Ukrainian authorities regarding non-compliance of any shipment. No complaints have been received from economic operators either,” the statement said.

The agency called on the media outlet to disclose the source of its information, “if such a source exists,” and urged other media organisations not to disseminate unverified or false information.
