Strong Armenia asks CEC to invalidate June 7 election results

Samvel Karapetyan's Strong Armenia Alliance, which came in second in the parliamentary elections held on June 7 with 23.2% of the vote, submitted a request on Friday to the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) demanding that the results of the parliamentary elections be declared invalid.

The application was submitted to the CEC by Aram Vardevanyan, a parliamentary candidate from the Strong Armenia Alliance.

Vardevanyan told reporters outside the CEC headquarters that their submission includes what he described as “all large-scale electoral violations” that took place both during the voting and prior to election day.

“I think many have been following what is happening in Armenia in the context of post-election processes. What is currently happening should not take place in a democratic society,” Vardevanyan said.
