Ombudsperson warns of fake Telegram account amid series of impersonation attempts

Shortly after several Armenian officials warned about fake social media accounts impersonating them, Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan also warned about a fake Telegram account using her name and photo to message citizens.

The office of the Human Rights Defender said the account, @Dokto111, has no connection to Manasyan or her office.

“We urge citizens not to respond to the messages, not to share personal information, and to report and block the fake account,” the office said.

Earlier, Speaker of Parliament Ruben Rubinyan, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan, Minister of Environment Hambardzum Matevosyan, Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan, and Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan had also warned about fake social media accounts created using their names and photos to spread disinformation.

The Central Bank of Armenia has also warned about fake powers of attorney, certificates, and other documents being circulated in its name.
