Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan described the U.S.-brokered August 8 Washington peace summit between Armenia and Azerbaijan as one of the most important highlights of 2025.

He told lawmakers at a parliamentary committee hearing on the 2025 budget report that the TRIPP project, formalized between Armenia and the U.S. during the same summit, will enter its practical phase this year.

“The most important event of 2025 is, of course, the one recorded on August 8 in Washington, when we established peace with Azerbaijan by initialing a peace agreement and adopting a declaration that was also signed as a witness by U.S. President Donald Trump,” Pashinyan said.

According to the Prime Minister, the current priority is the institutionalization of the peace agreement.

“Our task at present is very simple: in the near future, we are going to institutionalize the peace agreement, and we will carry out work in that direction,” he noted.

Speaking about the “TRIPP” project, he said that the signing of the relevant agreement between Armenia and the United States has been completed, and its ratification process is expected to begin soon.

He said the connectivity project is of strategic importance for Armenia and could significantly change the country’s position in the region.

“This is truly a game-changing project, because the Republic of Armenia, as I have had occasion to say, is transforming from a deadlock of conflict into a ‘Crossroads of Peace’,” Pashinyan emphasized.

The Prime Minister added that practical implementation of the project will begin this year.

“In 2026, actual work will already begin on the ground,” he stated.
