Arrests made in connection with alleged electoral violations

18 individuals have been arrested in connection with alleged electoral violations, authorities announced on Monday.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs said that, as of 10:00 a.m. on June 8, a total of 619 calls had been received on its hotline, 87-67, and the 112 emergency number, including both informational calls and reports subject to verification.

The following alleged incidents were recorded: 52 cases of double voting, 27 cases of violations of ballot secrecy, 9 cases of obstruction of the exercise of electoral rights, 4 cases of vote-buying, 2 cases of interference with the electoral process, and one case each of carrying a knife at a polling station, hooliganism, and physical assault. Documentation on these incidents has been submitted to the investigative authorities.

Three hundred twenty-two of the reports are currently under verification.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Migration and Citizenship Service said its other work included processing voter list applications, issuing temporary IDs to eligible voters, and providing information and consultations to citizens through its call center and service offices.
