IRI survey: Pashinyan is Armenia’s most trusted politician

A public opinion survey conducted on behalf of the International Republican Institute’s (IRI) Center for Insights in Survey Research by Breavis showed that 29% of respondents in Armenia said they would vote for the ruling Civil Contract party if elections were held next week.

The results of the survey were published by IRI. 

Data was collected from February 3–13, 2026, through CATI-administered telephone interviews.

47% of respondents believe that Armenia is generally moving in the right direction, while 41% think it is moving in the wrong direction. 11% of respondents found it difficult to answer the question or refused to respond.

Citizens were also asked what the main problems in Armenia are today. According to 21% of respondents, the main issues are national security and border-related problems; for 15% this was their first response, and for 6% it was their second response.

18% believe that the main problem in Armenia is the economy and unemployment. 9% mentioned this as their first response, while 8% listed it as their second response.

For 11%, the main issue is the cost of living and high prices; for 5% this was their first response, and for 6% it was their second response.

When asked which political party or alliance they would vote for if parliamentary elections were held next Sunday, 29% of respondents answered “Civil Contract” / Nikol Pashinyan, 11% said “Our Way” / “Strong Armenia” Party / Samvel Karapetyan, 4% said “Armenia Alliance” / Armenian Revolutionary Federation / Robert Kocharyan, and 2% said “Prosperous Armenia” Party / Gagik Tsarukyan.

Citizens were also asked which political figure they trust the most and who is the second most trusted. According to the survey results, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan ranks first with 20%. Of these, 18% said they trust Nikol Pashinyan the most, while for 2% he is the second most trusted.

Samvel Karapetyan ranks second with 10%. 6% said they trust him the most, while for 4% he is the second most trusted.

Robert Kocharyan ranks third with 5%. 3% trust Kocharyan the most, while for 2% he is the second most trusted.

Gagik Tsarukyan ranks fourth with 4%. 3% said they trust Tsarukyan the most, while for 2% he is the second most trusted.

In fifth place is Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, also with 4%. For 2% of respondents he is the most trusted political figure, while for 3% he is the second most trusted.

According to IRI, the sample consisted of n=1,506 resident citizens of Armenia and forcibly displaced former residents of Nagorno Karabakh who are now residing in Armenia (who may or may not be citizens). Residents who have lived in Armenia for fewer than six months were excluded from the sample. It is representative of the population with access to a mobile phone, which excludes approximately 1.7% of adults.
