Iran denies attack on Azerbaijan

1 minute read

Iran on Thursday denied having launched a drone attack on Azerbaijan after Baku said several Iranian drones hit the country’s Nakhchivan exclave, wounding 4 people.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said in an interview with Azerbaijani television AnewZ that “Iran does not strike its neighboring countries.”

He called for an investigation into the incident.

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has condemned the drone strike and said it reserves the right to take appropriate response measures. The Iranian envoy to Azerbaijan has been summoned to the Azeri foreign ministry.
