Iran says it shot down U.S. F-15 fighter jet

Iranian state media outlet Tasnim reports that the country’s military has shot down an American F-15 fighter jet.
Tasnim cited a source as saying that the U.S. F-15 aircraft was hit by the Iranian Army’s Air Defense Unit.
Three other American F-15s were earlier shot down over Kuwait in what the U.S. says was a friendly-fire incident involving Kuwaiti air defenses, but Iran claims it was behind the shootdown.
The U.S. and Israel launched what they described as a pre-emptive strike against Iran on February 28, claiming that Tehran was developing a nuclear weapon and posing a threat—an allegation Iran has denied. In response, Iran launched counterattacks, firing missiles and drones at Israel, as well as at U.S. assets and other targets across the Middle East, including those stationed in Middle Eastern and Gulf countries.
