Water Committee Chairman Aramazd Ghalamkaryan held a meeting on Monday with a World Bank delegation led by Fabrizio Zarcone, Country Manager for Armenia.

The officials discussed the Water and Irrigation Services Enhancement Program, which was reviewed last week by the parliamentary Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs.

The program will be co-financed by the World Bank and the French Development Agency, with funds allocated for reforms in the water sector and the development of institutional capacities, as well as for the modernization of water supply and wastewater systems—particularly in rural communities—and for improving the management of irrigation infrastructure and systems, the Water Committee said in a press release.

The parties also discussed organizational matters related to the preparation of the Water Compact and its joint signing with the President of the World Bank.

The committee chairman expressed gratitude to the World Bank representatives for their effective cooperation.
