U.S. tells citizens in Kuwait to shelter in place

The U.S. State Department issued a security alert for its citizens in Kuwait, advising them not to go to the embassy and to shelter in place.

Several media reports said smoke was rising from the diplomatic mission on Iran’s third day of retaliatory attacks in the Gulf following the U.S.-Israeli strikes. It is unclear whether the diplomatic compound was targeted.

Earlier on Monday, Kuwaiti authorities said they had intercepted hostile drones.

“There is a continuing threat of missile and UAV attacks over Kuwait. Do not come to the Embassy. Take cover in your residence on the lowest available floor and away from windows. Do not go outside. The U.S. Embassy in Kuwait urges U.S. citizens in Kuwait to shelter in place, review security plans in the event of an attack, and to stay alert in case of additional future attacks. U.S. Embassy personnel are sheltering in place,” the State Department Consular Affairs said on X.
