Within the framework of the 61st session of the UN Human Rights Council, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan met with the newly elected President of the UN Human Rights Council, Permanent Representative of Indonesia Sidharto Reza Suryodipuro, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia said in a press release.
Abisoghomonyan emphasized Armenia’s position on the importance of strengthening the institutional capacity of the Human Rights Council and the need to ensure resources for the effective functioning of its mechanisms and mandates.
During the meeting, the Deputy Foreign Minister presented details of the biennial thematic resolution on the prevention of genocide to be submitted by Armenia to the current session of the Human Rights Council.
It was noted that the resolution aims to provide early warning of genocide and other mass atrocities and crimes against humanity, strengthen prevention mechanisms, and consolidate international efforts in this direction.
