Pashinyan announces pension increase starting April 1

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced on Wednesday that pensions and benefits in Armenia will be increased starting April 1.

“Dear compatriots, I am pleased to announce that pensions in Armenia will increase starting April 1. In particular, relatively lower pensions will increase by 10,000 drams, while higher pensions will rise by a smaller amount. These calculations do not include the cashback received from cashless transactions, meaning the actual pension increases will be higher than the scales I mentioned. The cashback is calculated separately, and we have spoken about it many times,” PM Nikol Pashinyan said in a video published on Facebook.

The Prime Minister explained why the decision was made at this time. “You know that in 2025 Armenia’s economic growth was higher than projected, and it also exceeded the forecasts of international organizations. This creates additional opportunities for us, and the citizens of Armenia should see the results of that growth in their lives,” the Prime Minister elaborated.

In turn, Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Arsen Torosyan said that the cashback system allows pensioners to receive an additional 10,000 drams per month on top of the increase.
