Armenia, Kenya sign memorandum on political consultations

Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Armenia Vahan Kostanyan and Director-General for Political and Diplomatic Affairs at Kenya’s Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Josphat Maikara signed a memorandum of understanding on February 23 on holding political consultations between the foreign ministries, the Armenian Foreign Ministry said in a readout.

The signing of the document was followed by the first political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries, led by Levon Petrosyan, Head of the Middle East and Africa Department of Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Josphat Maikara, Director-General for Political and Diplomatic Affairs.

The interlocutors discussed prospects for activating cooperation in education, healthcare, high technologies, agriculture, and a number of other sectors. Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening political dialogue and expanding the legal and contractual framework. Reference was also made to cooperation and mutual support on international platforms.

During the meeting, the Armenian side presented its priorities ahead of the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the Convention on Biological Diversity, to be held in Yerevan in 2026.

The meeting also touched upon the latest developments in the South Caucasus and East Africa, as well as other issues of mutual interest on the international agenda.
