Minister of High-Tech Industry, Bulgarian Ambassador discuss cooperation in technological sector

On February 17, the Minister of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia, Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, received a delegation led by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Republic of Armenia, Nikola Nikolov, the Ministry of High-Tech Industry said in a press release.

The Minister congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment and wished him success in his responsible mission.

Hayrapetyan highly appreciated the historically close relations between Armenia and Bulgaria, based on the friendship between the two peoples and longstanding cultural ties.

He emphasized that bilateral political relations are developing in a positive and constructive atmosphere, noting that high-level mutual visits play an important role in further deepening cooperation.

Ambassador Nikola Nikolov noted that the friendly and cultural ties established between the two countries provide a solid basis for expanding cooperation in the high-tech sector. He highlighted the significant potential for cooperation that could contribute to sustainable economic development.

The Ambassador also presented the priorities and upcoming programs of the Bulgarian government in the field of technological development.

During the meeting, the parties discussed a number of issues on the bilateral agenda, particularly the expansion of cooperation in the technological sector.

They touched upon priority areas of cooperation in the high-tech sphere, including the development of startup ecosystems and the export of successful Armenian initiatives. In particular, they discussed the prospects of opening a TUMO Center for Creative Technologies in Bulgaria and holding the “Sevan Startup Summit.”

In this context, the importance of activating cooperation between Sofia Tech Park and the TUMO Center for Creative Technologies was emphasized.

The parties also discussed prospects for deepening cooperation in several strategic areas outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding in the field of technological innovation and scientific research, signed during the visit of the Armenian delegation to Sofia headed by Minister Mkhitar Hayrapetyan as Chairman of the Intergovernmental Commission.

These areas include artificial intelligence, space research, digital healthcare and biotechnology, the exchange of IT specialists, the development of startup ecosystems, the introduction of modern technologies, and the commercialization of applied scientific research results.

The parties reaffirmed their willingness to expand bilateral cooperation and agreed to take practical steps in areas of mutual interest to ensure the effective implementation of upcoming programs.
