Number of crimes in Armenia falls 3.2% in 2025, says minister

The number of crimes recorded in Armenia in 2025 decreased by 3.2 percent compared to the previous year, Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan said on Friday.

“This figure reflects the level of internal security, as well as the effectiveness of decisions made in the field of internal affairs,” Sargsyan said at a press briefing.

The Minister of Internal Affairs added that, compared to 2024, 42.2 percent more weapons and ammunition were seized in 2025.

“Regarding crimes committed with firearms and the illegal circulation of weapons and ammunition, I should note that although gun crimes increased by 24 cases, the number of solved cases also grew. Overall, 115 individuals were arrested on suspicion of possessing or carrying illegal firearms,” Arpine Sargsyan said.

Cases of illegal drug trafficking in 2025 increased by 614, or 20.4 percent, with 243 more cases solved compared to 2024.

“Law enforcement authorities seized 768 kilograms of various types of narcotics, which is 80 percent more than the previous year,” the minister noted.
