Armenian Prime Minister calls for introduction of jury system

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan reaffirmed on Thursday that the country’s judiciary should have a jury system.

He had previously stated in early 2025 that authorities must discuss the potential introduction of a jury system in Armenia’s judiciary.

“We will continue the reforms, including within the framework of the Constitutional amendments. I believe that Armenia should introduce the institution of jury, which will also create an organic and very direct connection between the judiciary and society,” Pashinyan said.

The Prime Minister added that, unlike in 2018 and 2019, there has been a significant decrease in the number of letters he receives in which citizens express dissatisfaction with rulings made by the judicial system.

“Currently, the proportion of such letters has decreased by multiples, if not tens of times. I receive letters from citizens every day, I read them every day, and I deal with them every day,” the Prime Minister noted.
