FM Mirzoyan meets PACE President, discusses regional developments

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met with Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe President Petra Bayr in Strasbourg, the foreign ministry said in a readout.

Minister Mirzoyan congratulated Bayr on her election as President of PACE and noted the symbolic nature of his visit, which coincides with the 25th anniversary of Armenia's accession to the Council of Europe. He underscored the importance of cooperation with the Council of Europe in Armenia's democratic development.

Mirzoyan reaffirmed Armenia's commitment to democratic reforms despite existing challenges, stressing that democracy remains a firm and ongoing process.

The sides highlighted the importance of interparliamentary cooperation and exchanged views on regional developments.

Mirzoyan also presented the steps taken and ongoing efforts to strengthen and institutionalize peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan following the August 8 agreements.

Humanitarian issues were also discussed. Mirzoyan expressed gratitude for PACE's consistent support on issues of key importance to Armenia.
