During a session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Moldovan President Maia Sandu has expressed support for Armenia and the Armenian people in defending their democratic future.
“I am following developments in Georgia with sadness. Despite the bravery of the Georgian people, who continue to defend democratic values, European aspirations and the right to self-determination, Russia has brought Georgia back into its orbit, reinforcing fears of war and signalling that a wrong choice in the elections would cost peace.
“Now Armenia is becoming a target of the same strategy aimed at weakening sovereignty, influencing democratic elections and exploiting internal vulnerabilities,” Sandu said.
She stressed that Moldova supports Armenia and its people who are trying to resist this pressure.
