Ex-President LTP’s party announces 2026 bid, names Levon Zourabian prime ministerial candidate

The Armenian National Congress Party, led by former President Levon Ter-Petrosyan, announced on Friday that it will run in the 2026 parliamentary elections and has chosen Levon Zourabian, the party’s vice president, as its candidate for prime minister.

The announcement was made by Aram Manukyan, the party’s vice president of the board.

"Everything I am about to say has been agreed upon with our party chairman, Levon Ter-Petrosyan. I inform you that a unanimous decision has been made to participate in the upcoming elections and to nominate Deputy Chairman of the Board Levon Zourabian as the party’s candidate for prime minister," Manukyan said at a press briefing.

Manukyan said the party seeks to form a broad alliance for its parliamentary bid.

Zourabian expressed gratitude for being nominated as the party’s prime ministerial candidate and said he accepted the decision with great willingness.

Parliamentary elections in Armenia are scheduled for June 2026.
