Prime Minister highlights new schools as 'cornerstone' of Armenia’s 'transformation'

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that the schools being built across the country under the new project are an “integral and cornerstone” part of Armenia’s transformation.

He made the remarks after inspecting a newly built school in the village of Hayanist.

“The construction and opening of such schools is not merely a local event. Schools built from scratch under the new project are a very important, integral, and cornerstone part of Armenia’s transformation. We are not only talking about new buildings, but also about a new mentality. A newly constructed school, like any newly built structure, reflects a change in mindset. It demonstrates the transformation taking place in our thinking—and that transformation should be reflected in our children,” said the Prime Minister.

According to him, the new school, the new buildings, the new standards, and the teacher certification system all reflect a new way of thinking; in this sense, the school represents new “forms of thought.”

“But I don’t want us to assume that we have already fully defined this new way of thinking and must conform to it. Although we have made progress, we must continuously refine and transform this mindset,” Pashinyan noted.

Addressing the students, the Prime Minister emphasized that the new school also expresses the Government of Armenia’s care and affection for them.

The school in Hayanist was built as part of the 300 Schools and 500 Kindergartens development project, a flagship initiative of the Pashinyan administration aimed at building or renovating 300 schools and 500 kindergartens across the country.
