Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz discussed urgent issues on the international agenda, Armenpress correspondent in Germany has reported.
Prime Minister Pashinyan noted that he and the Chancellor agree that, in a period of unprecedented challenges, democracies are facing rapidly spreading, often hybrid threats, and that only more coordinated and effective actions by like-minded countries can strengthen collective democratic resilience.
He stressed that establishing and strengthening economic ties is a key focus of his visit. In this regard, he expressed hope that the favorable environment created in and around Armenia will encourage renewed interest among German entrepreneurs in investing in Armenia and expanding cooperation with Armenian businesses.
“I also briefed my counterpart on the turning points in the South Caucasus following the Washington Peace Summit on August 8, 2025, expressing gratitude for Germany’s support for efforts aimed at institutionalizing peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan,” the Prime Minister said.
Pashinyan added that he presented to the Chancellor the broad opportunities emerging for developing trade and economic ties, as well as expanding cooperation in infrastructure sectors in the context of unblocking regional communication routes in the South Caucasus. He highlighted the importance of efforts to implement the Crossroads of Peace project and the TRIPP communication route programs.
“I am confident that these projects will become an important hub of the Middle Corridor, which is also of great significance for Germany,” the Armenian Prime Minister noted, emphasizing that Germany is an important partner for Armenia both bilaterally and within the Armenia–European Union partnership framework.
The sides praised the significant progress made in Armenia–EU relations in recent years, reaffirming the Armenian government’s commitment to strengthening its multi-sectoral partnership with the European Union.
Prime Minister Pashinyan also announced that he has invited the German Chancellor to participate in the European Political Community Summit to be held in Yerevan in May next year.
