Armenia and Germany are advancing their relations to the level of a strategic partnership. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this during a joint press conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, describing his visit as “historic,” according to Armenpress correspondent from Germany.

“This visit is truly historic, as today the relations between Armenia and Germany are advancing to a strategic partnership, which has been recorded by the signing of the Declaration on the Strategic Agenda of Bilateral Partnership between Armenia and Germany. The relations between our countries are based on mutual respect, trust, human rights, democracy, and the rule of law,” Pashinyan said.

The Prime Minister noted that he and Chancellor Merz expressed satisfaction with the steady development and deepening of cooperation between Armenia and Germany in recent years, across all areas of mutual interest, including trade and economy, education, science, culture, and environmental protection.

“We discussed joint steps to expand trade and economic relations. Germany is one of Armenia’s main trading partners and the leading partner in the European Union. We are keen to further develop mutually beneficial economic cooperation,” Pashinyan added.

He also highlighted the growing cooperation between the two countries in education and science, noting the success of Armenian educational initiatives such as the TUMO Centers for Creative Technologies, which are achieving great results in many German cities by providing young people with opportunities for technological education in a wonderful environment.
