SRC Chairman highlights U.S. support in upgrading customs control infrastructure

State Revenue Committee (SRC) Chairman Eduard Hakobyan met with Regional Advisor for the Export Control and Border Security (EXBS) Program at the US Department of State Kern Chesney, and Director of the Office of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL) at the US Embassy in Armenia Zachary Barter, the SRC said in a press release.
 
Chairman Hakobyan highlighted the significance of US support in upgrading border customs control infrastructure and in the ongoing professional development of customs officers.
 
Discussions also focused on the implementation of US assistance programs aimed at reducing customs-related risks which is a key element in strengthening the customs risk management system, particularly in terms of analytical capacity.
 
In addition, Hakobyan touched upon cooperation with the Office of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement, emphasizing the importance of providing new equipment and organizing specialized capacity-building programs for customs officers to more effectively combat smuggling.
 
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to move forward with existing agreements and expressed readiness to broaden cooperation, including in light of emerging regional developments.
