TRIPP opens new prospects for entire region, says Georgian Speaker of Parliament

Georgian Speaker of Parliament Shalva Papuashvili has said that the TRIPP connectivity project in Armenia opens new prospects for the entire region and will bring new investments.

“This is important for the development of competition, as well as to ensure that freight shippers are offered the best conditions, making our corridor [Middle Corridor] even more attractive. Competition only enhances this,” Papuashvili said, according to Sputnik Georgia.

According to him, having another route in the South Caucasus reflects the region’s stability, which will attract more investment.

“This, in itself, is a message about the stability of the region, which will expand all other types of investments—both in the corridor’s infrastructure and across various sectors in the region in terms of overall investment. Therefore, we welcome this initiative, which will be beneficial for the entire region,” Papuashvili said.

The Middle Corridor, also called TITR (Trans-Caspian International Transport Route), is a trade route from Southeast Asia and China to Europe via Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea (using train ferries to cross the Caspian), Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye.

The Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) is a connectivity project in Armenia, envisaged under the U.S.-brokered Armenian-Azerbaijani joint declaration signed in Washington, D.C. The project is expected to unlock strategic economic opportunities, create long-term benefits by promoting infrastructure investment, and enhance regional connectivity. TRIPP is part of the Crossroads of Peace project, and an Armenian-American joint enterprise is expected to develop the route.
