The unblocking of connections pursuant to the Washington accords between Armenia and Azerbaijan will also open new opportunities for Georgia, Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan said.
According to the Deputy Minister, Armenia and Georgia consistently engage in very open discussions on various issues.
Kostanyan made the remarks at a press briefing in Tbilisi, summing up the outcomes of Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan’s visit.
“Armenia and Georgia have always maintained very open communication on issues of mutual concern. Naturally, we also speak about regional cooperation, because following the establishment of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan on August 8 in Washington, unblocking will occur not only between Armenia and Azerbaijan, but it will also open new opportunities for our friendly Georgia. In this regard, the bilateral agenda was quite extensive, and certainly, during this visit, the President of the Republic of Armenia touched upon all these topics in his meetings,” Vahan Kostanyan emphasized.
Referring to cooperation between Armenia and Georgia in various fields, Kostanyan emphasized that the two countries maintain continuous dialogue and that the intensity of mutual visits is quite high.
“In the past one to two months, we have already had the visit of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, a few days ago the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia also paid an official visit to Tbilisi, the Minister of Justice was here as well, and next week the visit of Armenia’s Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure is expected. In addition, communication with our Georgian partners continues remotely as well, which speaks to the importance of our relations,” the Deputy FM said.
