Two individuals are wanted by Armenian law enforcement agencies in connection with the alleged murder of Ayshat Baymuradova, a 23-year-old woman from Chechnya who was found dead in Yerevan, authorities announced Monday.
Baymuradova reportedly fled Chechnya due to domestic violence and had been living in Armenia. She was reported missing on October 17 and found dead in an apartment in Yerevan three days later.
Authorities are investigating her death as a murder.
A court has issued arrest warrants for the two suspects, Investigative Committee spokesperson Kima Avdalyan said in a statement, without naming them.
Several human rights activists have described the death as an apparent transnational “honor killing."
