Missing Chechen woman, 23, found dead in Yerevan

A 23-year-old woman who was reported missing in Yerevan on October 17 has been found dead in an apartment, police said on Monday.

Police received a 911 call on October 19 reporting a dead body in a rented apartment on Demirchyan Street in Yerevan, authorities said. The deceased was identified as 23-year-old Ayshat Baymuradova.

RFE/RL earlier reported that Baymuradova, a resident of Chechnya, had fled her home due to domestic violence and was staying in Armenia.

Authorities said an investigation has been launched into the death, and forensic examinations are underway.
