Unblocking regional infrastructure, including the implementation of the “Trump Route” through Armenia, could provide mutually beneficial economic opportunities for all countries, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has said.

Mirzoyan noted that lifting the blockade would create unhindered communication between all countries of the South Caucasus and neighboring regions, including, for example, “providing Georgia with a railway connection to the Persian Gulf.”

“The opening of the Gyumri–Kars railway on the Armenian-Turkish border could also be of great importance in this regard, becoming, along with Georgian railways, an important part of the Europe–Central Asia transport chain. This is Armenias vision and the basis for practical steps,” said Mirzoyan.

Special representatives for the normalization process between Armenia and Turkey,Ruben Rubinyan and Serdar Kılıç, agreed during a meeting in Yerevan on September 12 to take steps toward launching the Gyumri–Kars railway.
