The Armenian government has approved a bill to ratify a readmission agreement with Georgia.

The decision was made at a Cabinet meeting on Friday. The agreement was signed between Armenia and Georgia in July 2025.

According to the bill’s substantiation, signing an international readmission agreement between Armenia and Georgia is expedient from the perspective of combating irregular migration, as such agreements are considered effective tools in addressing it. The ratification of this agreement is particularly important given that Armenia and Georgia are neighboring countries. The signing of an international agreement on readmission between Armenia and Georgia will allow for joint and coordinated measures in both countries to identify and organize the return of individuals residing illegally, including their own citizens as well as third-country nationals and stateless persons.
