Armenia's Mountaineering and Hiking Federation (AMHF) has officially been accepted as a full member of the International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation (UIAA).
The decision was made during the UIAA General Assembly held on 23–26 October 2025 in Peja.
Armenia’s admission to the UIAA marks a new chapter in the development of national mountaineering and mountain tourism, AMHF said in a press release.
The President of the Federation, Suren Danielyan, stated:
“Joining the UIAA is more than a formality — it is the acknowledgment of our journey. Armenia is now officially part of the global mountaineering family, where experience, heritage, and respect for the mountains are shared values. We are ready to contribute, to learn, and to represent Armenia with dignity on the international stage.”
Membership in the UIAA will enable Armenia to take part in global initiatives related to mountain safety, instructor training, environmental protection, and sustainable development.
It will also strengthen Armenia’s position as a regional hub for mountaineering, trekking, and mountain tourism in the Caucasus.
