President of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan met with a delegation led by the Head of the Saudi Arabia-Armenia Friendship Group at the Consultative Assembly of Saudi Arabia, Ali bin Mohammed Al Shahrani.
President Khachaturyan welcomed the delegation’s visit to Armenia, emphasizing that, despite the relatively short history of diplomatic relations, active political dialogue and dynamic development of high-level contacts have been established between Armenia and Saudi Arabia, contributing to the deepening of mutually beneficial cooperation, the President’s Office said in a readout.
“It has been only two years since we established diplomatic relations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. However, it should be noted that considerable work has been carried out during these two years, and today’s visit of your delegation demonstrates that both countries are genuinely striving to create conditions to make our existing cooperation even more intensive,” said the President.
Ali bin Mohammed Al Shahrani expressed gratitude for the warm welcome, specifically stating: “It is a great honor for me and my colleagues to meet with you. We have received the warmest reception here. As you mentioned, although it has been only two years since the establishment of our diplomatic relations, we are already seeing certain signs that indicate the positive development of our relationship.”
During the meeting, the President and the Saudi delegation members discussed a wide range of matters related to the agenda for developing bilateral relations. President Khachaturyan highlighted the process of establishing sustainable peace and fostering an atmosphere of mutual trust in the region, highlighting that Armenia is determined to continue taking constructive steps in this direction.
The head of the delegation, Ali bin Mohammed Al-Shahrani, in turn noted that Saudi Arabia welcomes Armenia’s efforts to promote regional peace and is ready to support this process through dialogue and cooperation.
Both sides stressed the importance of strengthening political, economic, and business ties between Armenia and Saudi Arabia, as well as exploring opportunities to expand cooperation in high technologies, artificial intelligence, education, tourism, sports, and several other areas.
The recent growth in tourism flows between the two countries was positively assessed by both parties, with an emphasis on the fact that it reflects increasing mutual interest and trust.
