Chairman of the Consultative Council of Sharjah visits Armenia

Deputy Speaker of Parliament Hakob Arshakyan met with a delegation led by Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, the Chairman of the Consultative Council of Sharjah, UAE.
Welcoming the delegation, Deputy Speaker Arshakyan stated that Armenia places great importance on the steady development of friendly bilateral relations with the UAE, the parliament’s press service reported.
“The high-level interstate relations between Armenia and the United Arab Emirates are mutually binding, and I hope that our countries will continue the good traditions of cooperation for the benefit of the friendly peoples of Armenia and the UAE,” Arshakyan said.
He noted that Armenia seeks to develop and strengthen its friendly ties with the UAE, as well as to expand cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi expressed his gratitude for the warm reception. He conveyed the cordial greetings of the Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi.
The Chairman of the Sharjah Consultative Council noted that Sharjah is one of the most interesting and cultural centers of the United Arab Emirates, where the Arab traditional spirit is preserved. He spoke about the Armenian community in Sharjah, emphasizing that, along its similarities with other communities, it has distinctive characteristics. The Chairman also expressed his readiness to deepen cooperation between the two countries.
Hakob Arshakyan spoke about the initialing of the Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which took place on August 8, 2025, in Washington. He emphasized that the establishment of peace will open up broad development opportunities in the region.
Speaking about the Armenian government’s “Crossroads of Peace” initiative, the Deputy Speaker noted that it represents Armenia’s roadmap toward sustainable peace, based on the principles of jurisdiction, sovereignty, reciprocity, and equality among countries.
Both sides noted that there is significant untapped potential for cooperation between Armenia and the UAE. In particular, attention was drawn to the fields of high and information technologies, education, and science.
As part of the visit, Dr. Abdulla Belhaif Al Nuaimi will give a lecture at the Leadership School.
