Armenian chess grandmasters Hayk Martirosyan and Gabriel Sargsyan have advanced to the second round of the FIDE World Cup 2025.
Martirosyan defeated Indonesia’s Satria Duta Cahaya 1.5–0.5, while Sargsyan won against Sri Lanka’s Ranindu Dilshan Liyanage by the same score.
Meanwhile, the match between Karen Grigoryan and Ahmed Adly (Egypt) ended 1–1, and the winner will be determined in a rapid chess tie-break.
Robert Hovhannisyan vs. Kavin Mohan (Malaysia) also ended 1–1, with a rapid tie-break pending to decide the winner.
